Ronald McDonald House

The Ronald McDonald House of Fort Worth (RMHFW) provides a supportive home-away-from-home to many families while their child is undergoing medical treatment. They believe that when a child is hospitalized, the love and support of family is as powerful as the strongest medicines prescribed.  Last year, they served 967 families and provided more than 14,000 night stays. With private bedrooms, family rooms, kitchens, playrooms, a business center and outdoor playground, families at RMHFW can establish normalcy at a time when their lives are anything but normal.

If you’re a parent, you’d probably agree that your own wellness is not your biggest priority when your child is sick.  So to help caregivers stay healthy themselves, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas helped RMHFW build a new exercise room and family garden through our Healthy Kids, Healthy Families® (HKHF) program. Our hope is that these new resources will help keep families active and focused on nutrition. The garden grows fresh, healthy and nutrient-rich fruits and vegetables so that families can prepare balanced meals, which help kids heal faster and provides lifelong benefits. The renovated exercise room gives families a place to relieve stress and gain strength to care for their sick child.

RMHFW strives to be part of the solution for families struggling with a health crisis. If you’d like to volunteer, donate or learn more, visit RMHFW website.
