Has anyone successfully used an ESA letter with their landlord?

I’m curious if anyone here has actually used an ESA letter with their landlord and had it accepted.

My apartment has pretty strict pet policies and fees, but I’ve been reading that under the Fair Housing Act, emotional support animals can sometimes be allowed as a housing accommodation if you have a valid ESA letter from a licensed mental health professional.

The confusing part is that there are so many websites offering ESA registrations and certificates, and I’m not sure which ones are actually legitimate. From what I understand, what really matters is getting a proper ESA letter after a professional evaluation.

I recently came across My ESA Therapist, which seems to connect people with licensed clinicians who can evaluate whether an ESA letter may be appropriate.
Has anyone here gone through the process and successfully used an ESA letter with their landlord? How did your landlord respond, and did they ask for any additional documentation? I’d love to hear about your experience.
