HMO-Open Enrollment?

I've had a really hard time finding in-network specialists in Texas who actually accept the Blue Advantage HMO network in 2026. With the 2027 Open Enrollment coming up soon, I’m thinking of switching. Is it worth paying the higher premium for the Blue Choice PPO? Does the PPO actually have a noticeably larger provider network?

  • Blue Choice PPO may offer more flexibility and access to specialists than Blue Advantage HMO, but it doesn't guarantee that every doctor who rejects the HMO will accept the PPO. Before paying a higher premium for 2027, check whether your preferred specialists and hospitals are actually in-network, and compare deductibles, copays, and out-of-pocket costs. Also, if you're buying individual coverage through Healthcare.gov, BCBSTX's announced 2027 lineup does not currently list Blue Choice PPO as an option. Stickman Hook
