Now that the window for choosing and changing coverage is rapidly approaching, we’ve prepared a list of things to keep in mind before shopping, as well as how to choose the right plan for you, and what to do once you’ve made your selection.

Before You Buy
[]   Set a budget. This includes determining if your family is eligible for financial assistance.
[]   Gather information about your household.

While You’re Shopping
[]   Write down all of the doctors your family uses and check them against the potential plan’s provider network.
[]   Compile a list of all of the prescription drugs your family takes on a regular basis, then check how they are covered on the plans you are considering.
[]   Decide when you need your plan to begin. Enrolling by December 15 guarantees your plan will start January 1.

After You’ve Enrolled
[]   Make sure you pay your first premium; otherwise the plan doesn’t go into effect. Pay your bill the way that’s most convenient for you.
[]   Get familiar with your coverage. Once your plan is active, log into Blue Access for Members to print a temporary ID card, find a doctor or hospital in your plan’s network, review your benefits, and more.

While you’re getting into the swing of things this autumn and winter season, don’t forget about protecting your health by enrolling in a health plan this open enrollment. The window is open from November 1, 2018 – December 15, 2018, so while you’re working on crafting those New Year’s resolutions , get a head start on getting covered!
