I was terminated from my job in January of 2016. Under the severance agreement, my company would subsidize my insurance premium thru COBRA for six months.
I had coverage with BCBS of Texas.
My subsidy payments ended in July, and of course my premiums thru COBRA are much higher. ( actually doubled) I would like to get out of COBRA and set up my own policy coverage, preferably with BCBS. I am no longer going to be able to afford by coverage thru COBRA, and will possibly have to drop my coverage. Since my subsidy ended in July, would this qualify as a Life Event?
If not are there any other options available?
