Nurseline: Get Your Questions Answered

It’s the middle of the night on a Saturday and you’re having some shortness of breath. Wouldn’t it help if you could talk to a nurse for a few minutes? You can. Through the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) Nurseline, Medicare Advantage members can talk to a registered nurse at any time: 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

We’ve set up Nurseline because we know that health issues don’t follow a 9 to 5 schedule. In fact, it sometimes seems like problems and questions come up at the worst possible times. So instead of turning to the internet, you can dial 800-631-7023/TDD 711 and talk to a registered nurse who will listen to you, ask you the right questions and make sure you get some answers.

The great thing is that our nurses have helped Medicare members on a large variety of topics, including:

  • Diabetes
  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Asthma
  • Falls
  • Chronic pain
  • High fever
  • Cuts and burns

In addition to talking with a nurse, calling Nurseline also gives you access to an audio library of more than 1,000 health topics, with 600 of them in Spanish. That’s a lot of information!

Of course, if you think you’re having a medical emergency, you should call 911 for immediate help. The Nurseline does not replace the care and advice of your doctor. However, it can help you decide if you should call a doctor, go the ER, urgent care or retail health clinic, or treat the problem yourself.

Add this number to the contact list on your phone or write it down and keep it on your refrigerator.

When you call, be sure to have your member ID card handy.
