Are you getting the most from your Medicare plan? It’s a good idea to spend time reviewing your coverage each year. Knowledge is power, right? Empower yourself by becoming familiar with need-to-know information that can help guide your Medicare choices and decisions.

To help you understand any changes to your plan and your benefits, there are two documents that provide answers — Annual Notice of Change and Evidence of Coverage.

What Is an Annual Notice of Change?

The Annual Notice of Change (ANOC), outlines benefit changes that current members will see in the next contract year. Here are some examples of information you might find in your ANOC, if there are changes to your plan or benefits:

  • The name of the plan may change
  • There may be changes to premium, deductible, copayment, and coinsurance amounts — along with changes to covered prescription drugs or cost sharing*
What Is Evidence of Coverage?

Evidence of Coverage (EOC) explains all the coverage included in the plan you're enrolled in. EOC information includes:

  • Important phone numbers and contact information
  • Your medical benefits chart (what is covered and what you pay)
  • What to do if you have a question
  • Definitions of important words
When Will I Receive the Documents?

As a Medicare member you will receive your ANOC via mail by Sept. 30. Visit the online Forms and Documents page at www.bcbstx.com/medicare to access your plans member materials such as your EOC, pharmacy directory and provider directory. Changes and benefits outlined in the material you receive in September will become effective the first of the new year.
