Information about Coverage When You Travel Abroad

The first step to getting covered overseas is to check what kind of coverage you already have. If you get your health plan through your job, log in to your Blue Access for MembersSM account or talk to your benefits administrator to see if you have access to the Blue Cross Blue Shield Global® Core program. What is Global Core? It’s a program that gives you access to doctors and hospitals when you’re away from home. It can even include services provided overseas or for extended stays!

Don’t have Global Core or group coverage? Don’t fret! That’s where GeoBlue® travel medical health plans come in. These plans give you access to medical assistance, services, doctors and hospitals in over 200 countries and territories around the world.

These plans give you the peace of mind that you’ll be able to find the right health care provider should you need one.

Health issues can come up while you’re travelling overseas. GeoBlue travel medical insurance can protect you and your family while you spend your time making lifelong memories.

How to Participate in the Program:
Participating in the programs is easy! Just follow these steps:

1. Verify your international benefits with your plan before leaving the United States; benefits may be different outside the country.
2. Visit our GeoBlue page to compare plans and determine what best fits your travel needs abroad.
3. Remember to always carry your health insurance ID card.

Visit GeoBlue or contact your agent to find the short-term or long-term travel product that fits your international travel plans.
